Cyber Cafe Board:
Board Chair - Kathy Yelle - Grant Writing and Fundraising
Kathy Yelle grew up in Anoka and graduated from Augsburg College with a BA in psychology. She has been active in the Wadena community over the past 18 years volunteering in many areas. Her volunteer experience includes the Cloverleaf Youth Partnership, Healthy Community Partnership, Wadena Revitalization Committee, Tri County Hospital Auxiliary and many church and school activities. She has written many grants benifiting the parks, schools and youth within the community. She was appointed to the Wadena Deer Creek School Board in 1996 and was elected in 1998, 2000, and 2004 and currently serves as their Vice Chair.
Treasurer - Kay Browne - Marketing
Kay Browne has 28 years of nonprofit organizational development including the start-up of Partners for a Healthy Wadena Region community based nonprofit in 2000. She organized a continuing effort of community revitalization in 1998 through a broad-based steering committee that began by coordinating a Small Cities Development Grant application for the City of Wadena. A key volunteer in the Wadena community for nine years and a member of the City Council, Kay has gained a reputation for expertise in community development, economic development and community building. Her areas of expertise include fundraising, marketing, special events, grant writing, downtown revitalization projects, historic preservation, entrepreneurship and coordinated numerous successful grants, projects and nonprofit organizational development programs. Kay graduated from Iowa State University in 1972 with a B.S. in Home Economics Education, from Healthy Community Partners Trainiing in 2000; received certification from Nonprofit Management University of St. Thomas in "Getting Started; What You Need to Know for Start-Up Organizations" in 2002; from Youth as Resources Training in 2003; from Healthy Organizations Partnership Training in 2005 as well as many continuing education classes for teachers and members of city councils. In addition to teaching, her prior experience includes retail sale at a family-owned home furnishings store. She has also served as the chair of the Wadena Area Arts Council and Cross Country Ski Club and as the Treasurer of the Partners for a Healthy Wadena Region, Wadena Area Arts Council, Friends of the Library and Women of Today. Her strengths include a deep care and concern for the future of the community as well as strong development, recruitment and budgeting and financial skills with attention to detail and follow through.
Secretary - Ann Pate - Construction and Remodeling
Ann Pate was born in Bismarck, North Dakota and attended the University of Montana, graduating with a Resoruce Management degree. After moving to the Wadena area, she has been extremely active in the community, especially with the Cyber Cafe. Without her help this project might never have gotten off the ground. She serves as the Clerk for the Wadena-Deer Creek School District's school board, a member since 2002.
Member - Judy Taves - Software and Bookeeping Support
Judy Taves grew up in Lubbock, Texas where she received a Master's degree is Business from Texas Tech University. She moved to Wadena in 1974 and has been active in the community ever since. The current Wadena-Deer Creek School District school board Chairperson, she has been vital to both the school and the community through her actions. She has been serving the Cyber Cafe since its induction and joined the board in 2007.
Member - Gail Vittetoe - Maintenance/Cleaning
Gail Vittetoe grew up in Battle Lake, Minnesota and is a mother of three. She has been active in the community and with the Cyber for the past few years and is an avid scrapbooker and seamstress. Self-employeed for over 30 years, she still finds the time to offer her advice and expertise to the Cyber, joining the board in 2007.
